Chronicles of the Starborn

To become one with the ancient order, a seeker must visit each of the Celestial Shrines. At every location, they must stand before the etched stone monolith and absorb the starlit verse. To assist seekers, the Council has documented these places with guidance and sacred insights. Each blessing granted resonates for several moon cycles.

The Vale of Echoes: Shrine of Humility

In this sacred glen, the Starborn Emissary met a weathered bard who had lost his voice to grief. The Emissary offered no grand speech, but sang in the bard’s place each night until his spirit was healed. At the Vale of Echoes, pilgrims honor this tale by speaking not, but listening deeply.

The Vale is nestled east of the village of Nyr, near the edge of the Glimmering Woods. Marked by twin willows and a silver spring, it is best approached from the southern trail. Visitors often leave a feather or leaf to represent the lightness of spirit and grace of the Emissary.

Skystone Crater: Shrine of Daring

When the rogue comet Zephyrion veered toward Elaria, the Flamekeeper stood atop Skystone Crater and summoned the winds to alter its path. With nothing but his voice and will, he turned disaster into awe. The skies still burn faintly where the comet passed, forever marking his courage.

The Shrine lies at the center of the crater, glowing with residual energy. Travelers must bring a wisp of firegrass or a shard of meteorite as tribute, symbols of celestial defiance.

The Crystal Steps: Shrine of Generosity

When famine struck the northern isles, the Luminary shared her hoarded starlight crystals with the poorest of the realm, illuminating both their homes and hearts. To honor her selflessness, pilgrims climb the Crystal Steps and leave behind something they cherish.

This shrine crowns the cliffs of Myrian Bay. It is customary to leave a crystal, coin, or crafted token at the highest step as an offering of goodwill and abundance.

The Mirror Labyrinth: Shrine of Courtesy

Within this reflective maze, the Wayfarer met a shapeshifter in his own image. Instead of striking in fear, he bowed with respect, and the maze revealed the true path. The shrine teaches us that courtesy, even in confusion, lights the way.

The entrance lies hidden beneath Lake Virelle. Those who enter should carry a polished mirror and speak their name with reverence. A whispered compliment to a stranger is the traditional gesture before exiting.

The Ashen Altar: Shrine of Justice

In the aftermath of the Ember Wars, Judge Nyx stood at this altar and weighed the sins of victors and vanquished alike. Flames rose not in vengeance but truth, and wrongdoers were cleansed, not punished. Justice here is not retribution—it is revelation.

The Altar rests near the volcanic peaks of Ashrend. A pinch of powdered charcoal is offered at the brazier, symbolizing the truth hidden in ashes. Only those who accept their own faults may enter the shrine’s inner sanctum.

Obsidian Deep: Shrine of Valor

The warrior Tyros descended into this abyss to battle the Star Wyrm. With only echoes to guide him, he emerged days later bearing the wyrm’s shattered fang. His courage echoes still in the obsidian walls, carved with the names of the brave.

Found along the jagged cliffs of the Shattered Reach, the shrine demands a token of bravery—often a fang, scale, or crafted weapon. Few make it back without a scar, and even fewer regret the risk.

The Eclipsed Gate: Shrine of Pride

Raised by the Architects of Dusk, the Eclipsed Gate was said to part the sky and land when the world was young. It stands not for arrogance, but for the pride of creation—the belief that beauty, built with purpose, holds power.

The shrine is hidden in the shadows of Mount Drel. Pilgrims approach at dawn, casting their silhouettes upon the gate. A gemstone, engraved with one’s name, is left in a pool of moonwater to honor those who shaped the realm.
